But i dont think they simply took the Ulysses Stuff from the finished 2K Master. I think they got the raw Scan for those scenes. Arrow and Universal scanned all that stuff in 4K back then. Remember.

Plaion is usually not a Label that does upscale shenanigans. But of course i only watch in FullHD and cant take Screenshots from the UHD.

BTW:
Because they used the theatrical master from Universal as Base for the Ulysses 4K Reconstruction all the "funny" little things from the Universal Remaster are also in there.
Like the Auto Clean Goof with the airplane in 1 Frame.

No big deal for me because you cant really see that in motion of course. And im one of those guys that dont care for stuff i cant see in motion.
I also can perfectly understand from a business point of view why you would use the theatrical parts from a finished master instead of redo EVERYTHING from scratch.

The English Audio is another story and goes way back to universals Blu Ray 2009. Honestly in my opionion the English 5.1 Audio never sounded very good for that movie. LFE was always near dead on the old mixes. And the DTS:X Remix from Universal for the UHD is the worst sounding one. LFE is put to an insane level but not very precise and clarity in higher Frequencies is missing completely. Its a mess in my ears.
Funny enough the german DTS:X Remix from Universal is sounding superb. If you switch back and forth during the movie its really remarkable how strange the English DTS:X is sounding in comparison. Usually its often the other way around. So thats a very strange situation.

The Ulysses Cut Audio is another story. The missing foleys are also for parts that are present in the theatrical cut and should not have missing foleys.
Plaion did put pack the two missing swear lines that arrow forgot. But besides that its exactly the Ulysses Audio from Arrow with all those missing Foley Effects and stuff.
To be fair: the main market for the Plaion release is the german market and they spend a ton of money for the dubbing of the new ulysses footage with the original voice actors from back then and they had to remix the german audio of course for the ulysses cut.
So that was the main focus.
Funnily enough they did it right for the german Track. In all Scenes that are also present in the theatrical cut you can hear the audio for that with all the foley effects. For mixing they only used the less detailed Effects Track for the additional Ulysses Footage because no other audio/foleys exist for that.

Im one of those strange german movie fans that watches everything dubbed So i have no problem with the audio.
But Waterworld was always a strange story in terms of 5.1 original Audio in my opinion.
