Film był kręcony cyfrówkami z ery SD, więc sami sobie oceńcie jaki jest sens w takim przypadku wchodzenia w UHD.

Poniżej odpowiedź jaką dostałem od przedstawiciela CURZON FILM na pytanie, czy digipack z nowego wydania będzie pasował do wcześniejszego limitowanego wydania i będzie możliwość jego samodzielnego zakupu, w celu podmiany i w ten sposób posiadania wydania z dołączonym "Tańcząc w ciemnościach", który zakupiłem oddzielnie.
Wstawiam całość, czyli również uzasadnienie dlaczego "Tańcząc w ciemnościach" nie zostało dołączone do pierwszego wydania.

The digipacks for the new edition do fit inside the inner slipcase of the limited edition, with the booklet and posters from the limited fitting snugly alongside them (the limited edition digipacks were designed to fit the posters, which the new ones don't have).

The new digipacks also differ slightly in the order of the films. The first digipack (the green one) was amended to include Dancer in the Dark, which sits between The Idiots and Dogville. The Five Obstructions was moved to the first page of the second digipack (the orange one), and the two discs for Nymphomaniac I & II were combined onto one page with a double disc tray. This was done to keep the films in chronological order.

It's not currently possible to obtain just the new digipacks separately, but we have discussed it and are looking into making them available in the future.

To provide some additional context for the situation, when we acquired the majority of the Lars von Trier filmography several years ago, Dancer in the Dark was still under licence with the previous UK distributor. We reached out to this distributor back in 2023, as we were putting together the Blu-ray collection, to ask about including the film in the set. Unfortunately, after several enquiries, we received no response (physical home entertainment has unfortunately become much less of a priority for some distributors in recent years, which might be why there was no reply).

With no indication of when, or even if, Dancer in the Dark would become available to us, we made the decision to move ahead without the film for the boxset. We acquire films for a certain number of years (known as the licence period or term) which means that the longer we would've waited to release the set, the more time these films would not be available on the market and the less chance we have to recoup our investment in the acquisition.

It was only several months after the limited edition was released that we heard the UK rights to Dancer in the Dark were becoming available, and we eventually acquired the film to complete the filmography. Had we known the rights were becoming available so soon, of course we would have loved to include the film in the limited edition collection, but due to the reasons mentioned above, this didn't happen. However, as huge fans of the film, we still wanted to release it on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK. We did explore possibly selling the Dancer in the Dark disc on an insert that could fit inside the limited edition collection, but unfortunately this was a no-go, as the packaging itself didn't really work and the logistics of distributing these proved very difficult, so we settled on giving the film its own Blu-ray release with a nice O-ring.

This brings us to the new edition of the LvT collection. As we do with all of our boxsets, once the limited edition is out of print and going out of stock at retailers, we release a 'standard' edition of the set with just the discs and no physical extras. We deliberated a lot about whether to include Dancer in the Dark in this standard edition. Do we keep the discs the same as the limited edition, even though we now have a Dancer in the Dark Blu-ray ready to go? Or do we add the new disc, making it the complete filmography but also making it inconsistent with the limited edition? We discussed amongst ourselves, with our retail and production partners, and we looked into comments and opinions from collectors on forums, message boards and elsewhere. Though there were strong arguments either way, we ultimately decided to include the film so that the complete collection is available for fans into the future.
