Those are good questions! Ill have to factcheck with my Polish landlord but here is my opinion:
1) Id presume that was something from the era; since this source (https://www.marxists.org/subject/jewish/1968-poland.pdf [3]) claimed that anti-Zionist in Poland had emerged before the series was finished. Probably the discrimination had been lingered until the script was written? (I take that the word Zionist contains more negative attitude toward Jews more than the word Jew, but I dont know how harsh it is. Please correct me if there is anything I've missed)
2) Anatoly Sofronov was a Soviet Writer. English wikipedia doesnt explain much about him. But in Polish version (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatolij_Sofronow [4]) there is some mention about the series... google translate doesnt help me in this case. Anyway, this wiki page (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanis%C5%82aw_Anio%C5%82_(posta%C4%87_filmowa) [5]) claims that he is Aniols favorite writer. So maybe its simply the reason that he shouldnt be involved in his wifes random thoughts.
